And it’s down to six! Stupid Eli Manning. Stupid Patriots bucking all their stats and losing at home. Now that I am out of it, I am cheering for Kevin (to keep the $$ in house) and also for Tyler – it would be fun to see a young gun show the rest of us that we really don’t know as much about football as we think we do. Good luck to everyone!

For only seven pickers, it is a bit surprising that we’ve got 4 games of interest this week. Kevin says I always cheer against his team. So this week, in an effort to be fair, I am cheering against the Falcons. (Is that better, honey?). Word on the street is that the next few weeks are gonna get harder – with good teams playing good teams and bad teams beating up on each other. So, let’s all take a moment to enjoy the competition while it lasts.
We’re now down to “Lucky 7”. And, with the World Series behind us I can stop stressing out over pitching changes and dedicate more of my sports brain to beating you dorks! Here’s to hoping that Paul and Tyler join with me to cheer against the Ravens. Everyone has at least one strike, so no one is safe from the bad pick.
Well, another one bites the dust. With the Jags upset of Baltimore last night, Adam was eliminated and Tyler got his first strike. Emily also got her first strike this week by being an idiot and picking Oakland. The Cowboys managed to beat the Rams won it for almost everyone else. And, I know the Saints won, but I didn’t see much of the game as I was watching Holland pitch a shutout against the Cards.
Everyone left is now in the one-and-done category for losses. Time to start choosing carefully!!!!!!
Good luck in Week 8.
For only having 8 people left standing, we have a remarkable 4 different teams picked. I think the Cowboys should have to pay an extra penalty for playing the 3:00 game at home when there is a World Series game starting right next door at 7:30 that night and they share parking lots. Will be a madhouse in Arlington for sure. As for my own pick, I didn’t realize the Carson Palmer controversy was coming when I made my pick early in the week. Ugh – hopefully the Raiders will pull one out for me.
Wooo Hooo!!!! Go RANGERS!!!!!! Oh, wait, wrong blog!
Here are the results for week 6. Everyone picked correct, so no eliminations or strikes. But, only 1 person still has the Steelers in their options, and only 1 has the Packers. The rest of us will have to start choosing between from teams like Oakland or Tampa Bay – ugh!
I have been notified that a mistake was made on the earlier post. Christian picked the Chargers in Week 5, and while they won, he had already picked them in Week 3, so he is also eliminated. Also, Grandpa Bill and I decided that we kinda liked catching up every week, so now that he’s out of it, he has volunteered his services of picking the “loser” pick for those who don’t get theirs in on time – but, only “when he feels like it.” So, between him and me, that will still be addressed. See the revised sheet below.
It was a bumpy ride this weekend. The Giants loss definitely dealt some body blows to the pool, and also made my drive home in traffic from Austin much more amusing (thanks, Seattle!). We’ve had our first casualties this week too. Week 5 was the end of the line for Bart, Bailey, Bill and Charlie H. And, the only two people without a strike at all are Tyler and Emily. Looks like it’s gonna get interesting.
