Scrum 2024 Week 4 Picks

Hello everyone. Here are the picks for Sundays games, It looks like there is little confidence in Baker Mayfield and the Bucs. T\hat sounds like a great formula for an upset.

The game of the week is the Bills-Ravens with a good split of picks. Hopefully the game lives up to the hype.

Go Steelers!

Scrum 2024 Week 3 Results

Hello Scrumblers! There were a few good games this past weekend. Two of our games were tight and then there was the game in Dallas. The Ravens ran away with it early and only allowed Dallas to show their offense in garbage time. Baltimore was by far the most popular selection last week and I guess you guys were onto something.

Congratulations to Heidi, Dana, Mary and Paul for perfect weeks. They had a variety of power picks to get there, but the differences don’t matter if you pick all the games correctly!

After three weeks there was some shuffling of the deck at the top. The one player who did not step aside is Heidi, who now stands alone. But Paul is right on her heels and we all know the standings can flip in any given week.

Here are the week 4 games. There are some familiar teams here, but I tried my best to pick close games between winning(ish) teams.

  • Eagles @ Buccaneers
  • Saints @ Falcons
  • Bills @ Ravens

Remember to get those picks in Friday night!

Finally we have a couple pictures that Virginia (aka Whoosie) shared from her busy summer. She took a trip to the Michigan UP with her friend Liz. They enjoyed some hiking, a boat ride on Lake Superior to view Pictured Rocks and of course stopped at local brew pubs along the way.

cheers!

Scrum 2024 Week 3 Picks

Hello Footballers!  Here are the week 3 picks, sorted by power picks.

It looks like the Saints are the big bet going in and hardly anyone believes in the Cowboys. I can’t wait to see how it all shakes out tomorrow.

cheers!

Week 2 Results

Welcome back scrummers! Week 2 included a couple of close games. The Seahawks-Patriots game was too stressful and I couldn’t watch the ending for fear of losing my power pick. But the Seahawks pulled out an overtime win and saved my week (thanks guys!). Congratulations go out to Heidi, Mary and Adam for pulling off the perfect week. Way to go!

On the other end of the board, Bill earned the season’s first donut… and it wasn’t the sugar coated tasty kind. I am sure he will be hitting the books and studying hard to improve in week 3.

With just two weeks behind us, the standings are already getting interesting. Heidi, Fletcher, Adam and myself are off to a quick start, but I expect big shake-ups to follow in the coming weeks.

With two weeks in the books, it’s time to move onto the next. Here are your week 3 games:

  • Bears @ Colts
  • Eagles @ Saints
  • Ravens @ Cowboys

We close this week’s post with two sets of photos. The first set is Adam in his natural habitat.

Here we have Adam, Tyler, Charlie and Brooks at Hammons Field in Springfield. Adam is already corrupting his grandson with contrary gear, wearing Royal blue in a Cardinals stadium.

Next we have Adam and Lisa at the ballpark in Kansas City. Rumor is they have taken up residence and are now living in the stadium basement.

And finally we have the young journalist and rising star Fletcher on assignment in Jefferson City. He’s published several articles in the Columbia city newspaper covering state politics and tourism. You can read a few by clicking here.

That’s all for week 2! Get those picks in – Friday at midnight – don’t be late!

cheers!

Week 1 Results – Dusting Off

Hello football heads, it was a fun weekend on the grid iron as we dusted off our game picking skills. Apparently, some of us need a bit more Fall cleaning than others!

Congratulations to the Carter family, the elder Hergies, Margie, Fletcher and myself for perfect picks.

Also congratulations to the field for avoiding a first week Donut. Everyone got at least one pick right to start the season!

We jump right back into it this week. Here are the next round of gems:

  • Seahawks @ Patriots
  • Giants @ Commanders
  • Rams @ Cardinals

Picks are due Friday at midnight. Please please please get picks in on time so I don’t waste my Saturday morning chasing people down.

This week we visit the land of Hergenrother for photos. Here are some highlights of the past couple months:

Here are Dianne and Dana cheering on the Irish down in College Station TX. It was an exciting fourth quarter and victory.

Here’s Dianne enjoying Bill’s latest with a custom pfump cover.

And finally, here are Dianne and Paul along with Molly and Dana living their best lives in Greece. Just look at that blue water and view.

Good picking everyone. Cheers!

Scrum 2024 Week 1 Picks

Here we go! The picks are in and kickoff is around the corner. We’ve already had two exciting games to start the season; let’s hope Sunday brings us lots more entertainment.

The season ahead raises many questions. I’m sure top of everyone’s list is whether the Steelers can generate any offense with all the transition and turbulence in their offensive line. Or whether this is the year Kevin finally gets that second scrum trophy he so richly deserves. Those are both good questions and I too share your concerns. We will just have to tune in to find out how the season plays out.

Here are the first round of picks. It appears the Cleveland-Dallas game is the one to watch with an even split of picks.

I don’t usually focus the camera back to my own family here, but Emily had a very tough week. She’s bouncing back quickly, but I thought I’d use this slot to share a fun moment of our summer when the entire fam made it out to the ballpark for a Rangers game. The two of us are looking forward to a nice quiet Sunday to watch some football and relax.

Good luck everyone! Especially those who picked the same as me.

cheers!

Scrum 2024 – Here We Go!

Hello fellow Armchair Quarterbacks and La-Z-Boy Long Snappers!

It’s time once again to kick off a brand new season of NFL and the Nemmers Family Scrum. I hope you’re all as excited as I am.

I’m sure you all remember the continued domination of the Lefton Dynasty. Gerri hung with the weekly leaders much of the season and in the final 3 weeks she jumped into first place and never looked back. Rumor is she celebrated so hard, the new trophy was shattered against the fireplace. Fortunately, she had parts from a spare trophy to make it as good as new.

We are starting with a nice set of Sunday games to get you all warmed up. I need a pick for each game with one tagged as your super pick (worth 3 points).

  • HOU @ IND
  • MIN @ NYG
  • DAL @ CLE

You may be racking your brains – who are the QBs of these teams? Were they in the playoffs last year? Should the favorites really be favored? You may be better off not knowing the answers to any of these.

Picks are due Friday before midnight. Email me or text. The rule refresher is at the bottom of this message for anyone who needs it.

Your ten bucks is due now. Thanks to all of the responsible humans who have mailed or beamed me their ante. It’s time for the rest of you dead beats to step up! ?

cheers!

Kevin

Rules:

  • Pick winners in 3 designated games each week, where one game is marked as your Super-Pick.
  • 1 point for wins, 3 points for super-pick wins (zero points for a tie).
  • Person with most points at the end of the regular season wins the pot and a shiny trophy.
  • $10 to play the season.
  • Selections are due each Friday before midnight.
  • I’ll send reminders if your picks are missing, but if I don’t reach you in time and you have no picks for a given week, that is on you, and not me.
  • There will be new penalties this year for late entries. Details to come
