Nemmers Scrum

With two teams in play, who would have guessed that the 14-point favorite Texans might struggle against the Raiders and the lowly Saints would be the powerhouse to run away with an easy victory?

We roll forward with yet another (yawn) quiet week in the scrum. The Sherburnes are just too good at this game.

It is time to spice it up! But first, here are the current standings.

WIth two weeks remaining to declare a winner, we will now up the stakes. For week 17, each player will pick THREE teams ranked in order of preference. After the games, I will evaluate everyone’s top pick first for strikes and then move to the second and so forth. Perhaps this will force a couple riskier picks and help shake up the standings. Assuming players survive the weekend, next week we will have the ultimate showdown with each player ranking another handful of picks to determine a winner. A player may slot their bye in any position, if desired.

Picks are due Thursday morning before kick-off if you’re choosing any of the Christmas day games. Otherwise, the usual Friday night works.

Good luck!

Hiya. We have picks in early this week as it’s coming down to the wire. There are two games selected across the three players for week 16.

It boggles my mind how after picking 15 teams, there are still teams available favored to win by 14.5 points. But that’s the reality with the Texans expected to win big over the lowly Raiders.

The Saints-Jets matchup is a bit more dicey and more of what I’d expect at this point in the pool.

Good luck Sherburnes!

Welcome back, football fans. After a crash of excitement in week 14, the players were gifted an easy slow weekend of football where the favorites all won comfortably. Even though the Sherburnes spread their picks across three different teams, everyone came out unscathed.

And good news.. the Steelers have somehow won two in a row and are still dangling in the playoff hunt!

We are down to the final three weeks. If we make it to week 18, prepare for the ultimate tie breaker!

Week 16 picks are due Friday night. Cheers!

And then there were Sherburnes…

Here we go with week 15. We have three different games to watch this week, which should keep things exciting.

Good luck to our friends and family in San Antonio!

Kevin

Ack! We were told the Saints had packed it up for the winter and were no longer participating this season. Instead, they inflicted a scrum-apocalypse knocking out all players not named Sherburne.

We are down to three players remaining, all from the same household in San Antonio. All previous family skirmishes over laundry, dishes and toilet seats have now been replaced by a fierce football pool rivalry. The gloves are off!

John and Margie are tied for the top with a clean sheet. Remi has one strike. Stay tuned to see what happens next!

Picks are due before Friday night.

cheers!

Kevin

Here are the picks for this weekend. There are only two games of interest this week. Most people are rooting for the Buccaneers and a couple players are sitting this one out. Margie has gone independent picking the Broncos. This will be either a quiet weekend for the scrum or apocalyptic if the Saints decide to compete.

Good luck!

Kevin

And then there were seven…

The early games were brutal for our friends who picked the Ravens and Eagles. I thought maybe this was doomsday weekend with more upsets in store, but the Charges and Jaguars won comfortably.

We say goodbye to Mary and Fletcher from the pool and welcome them to the Peanut Gallery. We now have seven surviving players. John and Margie still lead the way undefeated, with five others limping along with one strike. We are running out of season to resolve this game, but fortunately we are also running out of playoff contenders to pick.

Week 14 picks are due Friday evening. If you choose to pick the early game, get it submitted before kickoff. I am interested to see how the picks shake out this week.

I hope everyone had a fun, relaxing Thanksgiving week without too much travel stress. Here are a handful of pics shared from different gatherings.
