Week 11 Results, Week 12 Picks

Posted on by • 0 comment

Happy Thanksgiving football lovers!

I got bogged down in pumpkin pie and house cleaning earlier in the week and didn’t put out last week’s results.  The good news is – everyone survived, so there wasn’t much to report.

But, those last 5 pickers are sure on top of things.  Everyone got their picks in by last night, so I’ll post them here.  Then you can enjoy seeing if Dianne makes it through the day.  In the meantime, I want the Hergenrothers to explain how ND used its magical powers to create those crazy upsets in college football last week.  Nuts!

Ok, well off to go eat more than I should.  Hope you all have a great holiday too!!!

Week 11 – Yee Haw!

Posted on by • 0 comment

Well, this is a week full of horses and cowboys.  Howie – the Lone Ranger – has gone with Denver, and the other remaining 4 (horsemen of the Apocalypse?) have gone with the Cowboys.  If Jerry Jones rapping about pizza isn’t a sign of the end times, I don’t know what is.  But, most of you probably don’t see those terrible commercials…

Click here for Jerry, just in case you want to feel better about your own street cred…
Anyway, here are this week’s picks.  Good luck to all.  And, Happy Thanksgiving too –  I am thankful for family, pie,  and football pools.

Week 10 Results – the fish were the end of him…

A late posting this week – as 3 people picked the Monday night game.  And, while I am sure it was closer than the Hergenrothers or Howie would have liked, the Steelers pulled it out in the end and they are all in it for another week.  Sadly, the same cannot be said for Christian.  His pick of the Dolphins proved to be the final blow to his chances this year.  Take a moment to say goodbye to Christain – a good competitor for sure.

What does that mean for the scrum?  Well, we’re down to 5 (Bailey, Dianne, Howie, Kevin and Paul).  AND, Bailey is the last person standing with the Nemmers moniker!  Well done Bailey to have outlasted your brothers, dad, grandpa, and great uncle (the infamous “Hare of Einstein”, Uncle Bill).

It just keeps getting tougher.  So, good luck to all who remain.  Make sure to get those picks in on time!

Week 10 Picks – Go Steelers!

Hello.  Here are the picks for the week.  Surprising that with only 6 people left, there are 4 different teams to choose from.  Sorry for the late posting.  Last night Kevin and I hosted Elizabeth’s parents for dinner while they were on their trek from D.C. to Los Angeles.  And, if you’ve ever been near our house, you know it takes me awhile to be “visitor ready”.

Anyway, good luck to all!

Week 9 results – hanging in there

Well, all 6 players survived the week.  I am thinking that someone must be running out of good picks by now, but clearly, these 6 have it figured out.  Get your picks in this week by the end of the day on Friday!

Week 9 Picks – the second half of the season

Posted on by • 0 comment

Hello Footballers.  At the 1/2 way point, I think the 6 remaining contestants get an extra shout out for making it to the middle of the season. Well played!  This week, 5 different winners were picked, so there is potential for shake up, just not for Super-steady Paul, who managed to get his win in early.  While the rest of us were sneaking the good candy out of someone else’s candy bowl, Paul was racking up a win with his pick of San Diego over KC on Thursday night.  Well, good luck to you other 5, and have a great weekend to all!

Week 8 Results

After wiping my tears of despair from being kicked out with Charlie Hergenrother this week, I managed to compose myself just long enough to see the ghost of Walter Payton swoop in to save the Chicago game for Bailey and Kevin.  Doesn’t get any closer than that.  Well picked by the others, who all had pretty big blow outs. Only 6 remaining now, so choose wisely!  If you want the Chiefs or Chargers, I need your pick before kickoff on Thursday.  Pats, Jets, Rams and 49ers have the bye (making it that much tougher to pick this week).  Good luck to all, and Happy Halloween!

Week 8 Picks – the numbers are shrinking!

Sorry so late this week.  Just catching up from being away from home.  And, I am sad to report, the Scrum numbers are down to 6 contestants.  This is doubly sad for me, as one of the players who picked incorrectly on Thursday night (stupid Vikings!) was yours truly.  Take a minute to say goodbye to me and to Charlie Hergenrother.  You realize now, that there are only a few left to defeat the mighty Howie?  Or maybe you should all be concerned about dark horse (and previous winner), Paul.

Either way – good luck to those still in it.  Only 3 games of interest this week, so it could be interesting!

Week 7 results – the football-pool gods were smiling

Hello Footballers,
I hope everyone has made it home safe and is catching up on their sleep after the big wedding weekend.  Clearly, the football pool gods didn’t want to shake things up while no one was watching; as everyone got their picks right this past weekend.  Hooray for that.

Sorry so late to be getting this out.  Remember to get your picks in early.  The Thursday night game is Tampa Bay vs. the Vikings, and the teams that have a bye this week are:  Ravens, Bills, Bengals, Texans.  Double check your work to make sure that you aren’t picking a repeat – that starts to happen as we get to the middle of the season.

Good luck to all.  Saturday is the school carnival, so I probably won’t have the picks up until late in the day.

Week Six Results – the end of perfect Howie

Posted on by • 0 comment

Hello Footballers,
Here are the results for week six.  With losses by Pittsburgh and Arizona we 5 people have been eliminated, and Howie Senn has his first strike. Take a moment to say adieu to Adam. And, if it weren’t for a last second field goal in Atlanta, it could have just been me, Bailey and Howie left at all.  Kevin saw right through my fake cheering for Atlanta for him, I really wanted Oakland to pull that one out!  Oh, back down to it for week 7.  I think everyone left will be in D.C. this weekend, so you can just tell me your pick when you see me (and pay me).

P.s.  As for the Nemmers Brothers duel; I’m not sure how to score it.  Bill’s team won (barely), and Charlie N. picked a team that had a bye week – so they didn’t lose, but didn’t really win either.  Again, I think a 40 yard dash would be an easier way to settle this.
