Scrum 2025 Week 11 Picks

Posted on by • 0 comment

He everyone! We had several players take the early Patriots pick and are now sitting pretty going into the weekend.

For those of us who had already used NE, things may get a little dicey on Sunday. There were 5 different teams picked this week. Which teams will survive?

Scrum 2025 Week 10 Results

Welcome back from another weekend of football chaos. The Seahawks and Lions were the picks of the weekend as both teams ran away with their victories. The Colts also rallied in Berlin to defeat the Falcons in overtime. This was great news for seven of our players. But then there were the other two games…

The two-win Dolphins were 8 point underdogs and apparently didn’t get the memo that they were supposed to roll over for the vastly superior Bills. They dominated from the start and never looked back handing Violet her first strike and eliminating Emily. Boo!

Carolina has turned the corner and had a chance to compete for first place in the NFC West. But instead they let the Saints march in all over them. This gave Paul his first strike.

After 10 weeks, we are down to nine players. John and Margie have perfect records and seven other players are hanging around with a strike.

The list of good teams to pick is getting thinner and the bad teams seem to be stealing wins. We should have some interesting weekends ahead.

Send me your week 11 picks by Friday night or kickoff Thursday if you pick the early game.

cheers!

Scrum 2025 Week 9 Results

Hello again sports fans. I did some of my best work yet executing a jinx this past weekend. I concentrated and did backyard rituals to ensure a dramatic Rams loss. Unfortunately, the jinx backfired and hit the Packers instead! Apparently, the Lions also took on some of the collateral damage and also collapsed. Two of the best teams in football laid an egg. Dang it!

The Rams and Chargers skated along to comfortable victories, satisfying the masses. Unfortunately, I picked up my first strike while Stephanie and Dianne were eliminated from the competition. If you can’t safely pick the Lions and Packers AND you can’t safely pick against the Panthers… what’s a player to do?!

That leaves four untarnished perfect players: Violet, Margie, John and Paul. It also leaves another six hanging on with one strike.

Things are going to get tougher in the weeks ahead. Picks for week 10 are due Friday night or Thursday kickoff for the early game.

Finally, the photo of the week is Emily as Rosie the Riveter. We can do it!

Scrum 2025 Week 9 Picks

Here are the picks for week 9. We have 4 teams to watch this week. The majority of players took the Rams. Which means the juiciest upset would be an victory by the little Saints. Who dat?

Emily is the first to take advantage of her bye week. She said her brain is full and is taking a week to watch from the sidelines. She will be cheering for all of the upsets. Reminder, everyone gets the option to take one week off this season.

Good luck to everyone who picked the Packers this week!

And Go Steelers!

Scrum 2025 Week 8 Results

Posted on by • 1 comment

Hello scrummers! Week 8 held a couple more surprises for the unlucky few. It was smooth sailing for those rooting for the Colts, Pats, Bucs, Eagles and Broncos. But things took an odd turn for the Falcons and Bengals.

Out of nowhere, the Dolphins decided it was time to play football. And equally surprising, the Falcons decided it was a good day to roll over at home. Rather than just an upset, the Dolphins crushed the Falcons 34-10. Meanwhile, it seemed like everything was following the planned script in Cincinnati behind the arm of Joe Flacco. But suddenly the winless Jets rallied in the 4th and erased a 14-point deficit. Down by one, the Bengals had 2 minutes to get across midfield to try and take the game with a field goal, but ran out of gas before they could get there. The Jets get their first win 39-38 in a heartbreaker.

This leaves Emily and Mary with a strike and eliminates Gerri. I started to feel sad for Gerri, but then remembered she’s a 3-time champion. Thanks for making room for the rest of us!

At the end of week 8, we have five players with unblemished records and seven with a strike.

In tragic football news, the Steelers defense went missing at halftime on Sunday. A bunch of dudes wearing cosmic yellow jerseys came out to play the second half, but they clearly were not the real defenders. Hopefully a missing persons report has been filed for the squad and they are found before next weekend. I believe their faces are on the backs of milk cartons to help raise awareness.

Picks are due Friday. If you’re picking the Thursday game, get them in before kickoff.

In the photo gallery this week, we join John and Margie as they celebrate their 30 year anniversary along the coast of California in Big Sur. Congratulations! We raise our virtual glasses in toast to many more happy years ahead!

Scrum 2025 Week 8 Picks

Hello scrumpions! Here are the picks for week 8. The first several picks that came in were for Indianapolis. I thought it was going to be a very boring week. And then suddenly all the others picks came in and somehow we ended up with a total of 7 different teams this week. Now that is way more interesting!

Here it is.

Go Steelers!! (and Colts)

Scrum 2025 Week 7 Results

Posted on by • 0 comment

Welcome back football fans! Week 7 is in the books. It was a fairly uneventful week with the big favorites winning big.

The Chiefs, Patriots and Bears all won comfortably.

Some of us thought Baker Mayfield and the Bucs might make another close game with end-of-game heroics, but the Lions had other plans. The Lions established an early lead that never felt in jeopardy.

The bold pick of the week was for the underdog Jaguars taking on the Rams in London. Calvin has made some risky picks this season and came out the other side unscathed. But this time, the Jags let him down and eliminated him from the pool. We are sorry to see him go. 😕

Through week 7, we now have 13 players remaining. Seven players remain with no strikes.

Week 8 is just around the corner. Send in those picks by Friday night.

cheers!

Scrum 2025 Week 7 Picks

Thanks again to everyone for submitting picks so promptly. The week 7 picks are in. The Chiefs are the runaway popular pick of the week. I was surprised to see so many people still had them available. From my quick skimming, it appears they have only been used twice so far. Unfortunately, one of those picks was an eliminator.

But I guarantee that was one-time thing and it would be impossible for the division rival Raiders to overcome a 12-point spread and pick up a road victory. Impossible!

My jinxes haven’t been working, but i keep trying. The rest of us had picks for the Patriots, Jags, Bears and Lions.

Good luck to everyone who picked the Patriots this week!

Scrum 2026 Week 6 Results

Happy Columbus Day. I hope you’re all celebrating on a wooden ship and avoiding scurvy.

This weekend of football was super exciting, but this weekend of scrum was a yawn. Everyone advanced with no strikes. As the commissioner, I depend on movement in the standings to keep me entertained. I hope one of you will step up next weekend.

Denver won an ugly one against the hapless Jets in London. It was only a 2-point game, but somehow never felt in doubt. The Rams coasted over the Ravens and the Colts scraped out a win over the Cardinals. Despite my best jinxes and tortilla chip sacrifices, the Packers also coasted against the Bengals for an easy win. Hopefully next weekend’s picks will be a little spicier!

Get your week 7 picks in by Friday night. I appreciate everyone getting them in early this season! Don’t forget about the new Bye option we added for this season. I thought Gerri and Jim may need to use it for their wedding weekend, but so far nobody has felt the need to take the free pass.

Finally, in this week’s photo gallery we visit the Hergenrother’s to see what they’ve been up to the past few months. We have some Irish football, a summer wedding visit, and Charlie visiting the famous Hergie Lounge in Champaign!
