Hello! Although it was not under the best circumstances, it was still great to see so many of you this past week.
This weekend we have a scattering of selections with the Vikings leading the power picks with ten. Two others picked the Raiders in direct competition. The Bengals have a few power picks, while the Colts had no support despite the overall picks being dead even in that game. The closest contest with heavy power points on the line is the Eagles-Cowboys game with five people taking the Eagles and six taking the Cowboys. That will be the game of the week.
Week 13 wrapped up with a couple of nail biters, one unexpected blowout, and four perfect scores. Cassie, Gerri, John, and Kevin (!!) took home the honors this week. As an aside, I must say that getting a five is pretty exciting. I’m not sure why I don’t do this more often.
In the season leaderboard, Whoosie maintains the top spot along with a two-point margin. Cassie is trailing close behind with Gerri and Gabe tied for 3rd place. But I’m sure the main takeaway for everyone is noticing that your commissioner has crossed over to the upper half of the standings, tied for 12th. I think the oxygen feels a little richer at this altitude. I hope I can stick around for at least another week before being banished back to the scrum dungeons.
Your week 14 selections are here. It’s a busy week, so I tried to get the games out early so everyone can pick at their convenience. Please try to get them in on Friday night if you can.

Finally, I want to honor my mother-in-law Judy who passed away this past weekend. I learned a lot about family tradition from spending 25 years of vacations with the family and learned what it means to truly decorate a home for Christmas. She will be sorely missed. For those who missed it, the obituary is shared below as well as touching photo from Charlie & Judy’s 50th wedding anniversary party. That smile will be missed.
Hello everyone. I honestly wasn’t sure whether we’d have a contest this weekend, with the passing of Judy. However, I did receive a pick from everyone and perhaps this little game can provide a welcome distraction during the weekend.
Here are the picks. After being snubbed last week, it looks like the Falcons are the flavor of the week.
Give an extra hug to your family and loved ones today.
Welp, I said it might be a boring week except for those who picked against the grain. Charlie Nemmers was the only player to fly with the Falcons and was rewarded with a perfect score! Ten others had a nice four-point run. Dan hit the highlight this week by appearing with his extended family on national TV, but his luck ran out this sunday as he captured the only donut (sorry Dan!)
I didn’t expect much movement in the standings this week, but I was mistaken. With a well-played power pick, Whoosie surged to the top of the leaderboard by a comfortable margin. Cassie and Gabe are now three points behind and Gerri is four back, planning her next move. We have six weeks to go. It should be exciting.
Are you ready for week 13? Here are the selections. Picks are due Friday night (for realz!)

As promised, the bonus this week is a feast of holiday photos from around the country. Thanks all for sharing. I apologize if I missed any.

The link for this fantastic piece is HERE. All I can say is… wow. In case this sounds familiar, it should! We featured the 50th anniversary of the Mazza Turkey Classic last year on the blog with this POST.
Finally, a wise niece recently told me, “the family that naps together, stays together.” No truer words have ever been spoken. Here’s a few nappers featuring Hergenrothers and a Sherburne.
Hello everyone. I hope you’re had a great Thanksgiving and hope the travelers all have a safe and easy trip home. After the weekend, I’ll include photos I received from the different gatherings. There were some great pics and I appreciate everyone sharing!
There’s not as much variety of picks this week beyond the power pick selections. The PIT-NO-JAX combo was chosen by more than half the scrum. I’m in that mix, but it means big opportunity for those who picked against the grain.
Oof! We had a pile of difficult games in week 11 with some extremely close results. Two of the games were decided by a single point! The perfection streaks dried up in the pool, but we still ended up with three players scoring 4 points: Gabe, Whoosie and Violet. 19 of us were below par scoring 2 or less, with 6 proudly serving up donuts at the bottom.
The week 11 struggles caused a shake up in the overall standings. We now have three clear cut leaders with some separation from fourth place. Cassie, Gabe and Virginia are sitting at the top with 42.
We have a few more close games in week 12. It seems like the Steelers and Bengals keep popping up in our selections. The twist this week is they’re facing each other in another potential slog.
The picks are in. Power picks are scattered this week, but the lion share is going with the Chiefs. The Vikings-Broncos match up is split equally. I’m not sure whether that game will be fun to watch, but it will be fun to monitor the results!
As an added bonus, this week’s photo features our current scrum leader Cassie along with fellow scrumion Charlie at a friend’s wedding. Don’t they look all smiley and dapper?
There have been a lot of large point spread games these past few weeks and it’s getting tougher to find interesting matchups. Apparently, week 10 was relatively easy with a dozen perfect scores and nine 4-pointers. That’s 21 very happy people in a pool of 26.
With all of those high scores at the top this week, there was little change in the upper end of the standings. The pressure is on to continue perfect weeks to hang on to those elite slots.
There aren’t many close games predicted for week 11. The tightest are the last three of the weekend. Hopefully, they will turn out to be some good games with a couple surprises.
Greetings from Dallas. The picks are a little late today, thanks to an eventful Saturday. The Lions are the flavor of the week and most popular power pick. Here are the week 10 selections, sorted by power picks.
What a fun football Sunday. Some might have said it was too easy, as there were 13 perfect scores. But there are others of us, who overthink and flounder as usual. I felt lucky that my one good pick happened to be the power pick.
There was a shuffle in the standings as Gabe was shoved out of the catbird seat by Cassie. Cassie has now climbed to the top to sit alone, mocking the rest of us. But with four people within a point, I don’t think she should get too comfortable up there.
Do you remember how fun it was to watch those competitive week 9 games full of talent? That was pretty cool. Well hang onto that fading memory. Here’s your week 10 schedule to chew on:
Titans@Bucs ; Lions@Chargers ; Jets@Raiders
As always, picks are due Friday night. (For realz… Friday night!)
Finally, we cannot leave the post without some great photos from Charlie’s 80th birthday party this past weekend in Columbia. Below we have pictures of Charlie’s cake and candle blowing prowess, Charlie’s children, the Nemmers siblings, and some serious moves by the dancing fiends.
