Scrum 2026 Week 6 Picks

Posted on by • 0 comment

Hi everyone. Here are the latest picks for the pool. It looks very limited this week with almost everyone taking the sure-thing, can’t-lose, it’s-a-lock, what-could-possibly-go-wrong Green Bay Packers. I’m not sure there’s a jinx strong enough for a 14-pt spread, but I’ll keep trying. 😁

A few of us rebels went with the Rams, Colts, and Broncos instead.

Good luck everyone (not really)!

Go Steelers!

Scrum 2025 Week 5 Results

It was all going swimmingly in Jacksonville and Phoenix until suddenly… oof. The Cardinals fumbled at the goal line celebrating a few seconds too early and the Chiefs were unable to tackle a stumbling, falling, bumbling Trevor Lawrence as he wobbled his way into the end zone for the winning touchdown. Those two outcomes resulted in five more strikes and we say farewell to two more competitors. Jim and Whoosie were on the wrong side of the goofy plays and are eliminated from the scrum.

The other picks cruised to decisive victories, except for Tampa Bay who went back and forth with Seattle before the final game winning drive. Calvin has made some bold picks this season and comes out the other side victorious again!

Here are the current standings. We now have 14 players remaining with half holding perfect records.

Will we lose anyone else in week 6? More fun ahead! Get those picks in Friday night or kickoff Thursday.

Emily and I have been on the road on a ten-day midwest football tour. We visited Fletcher, Charlie and the Mizzou Tigers at the end of September. We then stopped in St Louis to celebrate Emily’s birthday with friends and then onward to Champaign to visit Dianne. The tour concluded in West Lafayette to see Violet and the Purdue Boilermakers.

There are a lot of photos here, so hang on for a long ride!

That’s all for this week. Stay tuned… we have a Hergie extravaganza lined up for next weekend’s photo gallery!

Scrum 2025 Week 4 Results

Hello fellow scrumpions! Another week and a few more strikes.

Fletcher dared to pick against the beloved Steelers and it bit him. It was an unfortunate football and life choice. I may scratch him from the will (congratulations Violet!).

The 0-3 Giants dumped their QB and decided to take the rookie for a spin. Somehow, they managed to topple the undefeated Chargers to give Stephanie and Whoosie their first strikes. The season is still young and unpredictable!

We now have 6 players with one strike, 4 eliminated and 10 with perfect records.

Picks are due Friday night or before Thursday kickoff if you’re picking early game. Thanks to everyone for being on time last week!

Here is a photo of Whoosie and Mary at Gooseberry Falls along the coast of Lake Superior. What a nice view!

Scrum 2025 Week 3 Results

Welcome back everyone! What an insane week 3. Some players were extremely lucky. Others were extremely unlucky.

The Rams lined up for a short field goal to put away the Eagles in Philadelphia with time running out. The kick was blocked and returned for a touchdown to save the day for the Eagles. It also saved Calvin. Whew!

In Tampa, the lowly Jets staged a comeback by blocking a 43-yard field goal and scoring with 1:49 left in the game. But that was too much time on the clock and Tampa came back to try another field goal and won 29-27 as time expired. Mary and all the Sherburnes breathed a sigh of relief.

In the first two weeks, the Packers looked like the best team in football beating the Lions and Commanders handily. But somehow the tables turned in Cleveland. The Browns hung around all afternoon and finally tied the game late. They then closed it out with a 55-yd field goal to win 13-10 and send the Packers home with a loss. Unfortunately, this also sent Adam packing with his second strike. It goes to show, there is no such thing as a safe pick in this pool.

Remember the happy couple who celebrated their wedding last weekend? The football honeymoon is over as somehow both Jim and Gerri took a strike this week. Insanity!

We have now lost 4 competitors, with 16 still alive.

Week 4 is around the corner. Send in those picks. If you want to pick the Thursday game, get your pick in before kickoff (and don’t forget to hit SEND!). Otherwise, picks are due before you go to sleep on Friday.

And finally, here’s a fun photo of some of the Nemmers siblings at a recent wedding in LeMars, Iowa. Left to right is Louise, Mary, cousin Kate, Bill and Whoosie (Virginia). Everyone is so smiley!

Scrum 2025 Week 3 Picks

Happy Saturday, football fans. Thanks to everyone for getting picks in on time this week. It’s much appreciated!

Here are the week 3 picks for tomorrow. A few people got their picks in early for the Thursday night game and will have a stress-free Sunday. But for everyone else… it’s on!

The Seahawks are the fashionable pick this week, but there were 6 other teams for Sunday. What a fun variety!

Scrum 2025 Week 2 Results

Well, week two has come and gone and so have a few of our favorite players. This week the Steelers, Panthers, Dolphins and Vikings all took their lumps. Unfortunately, their supporters also took their strikes.

It’s too soon to say farewell to Bill, Charlie N and Heidi – yet we must. They each have two strikes and have fallen out of the competition.

Calvin and Adam also got their first strikes and may now be tiptoeing their way into next week’s picks.

There are 17 players still competing. It’s time for your week 3 picks. Remember, there’s also the new Bye-Week option if you ever feel like you need to step aside for a week or get too busy.

Picks are due Friday night! If you want to pick the early game, get your pick back before Thursday’s kickoff.

In current events, we had a few fun ones shared this week.

First up is Friday night football. Calvin #8 on the tackle!

We are not so sure about the Purdue Boilermakers football team this year, but Violet is doing her best to support them. She managed to find her way on TV two weekends in a row!

And finally, I’ve saved the best for last. The event of the past weekend was the marriage of Gerri and Jim! Cheers to the happy couple!

Scrum 2025 Week 2 Picks

The Ravens have the most love, but there are 9 total teams in the mix. It’s a nice variety to choose against!

Good luck everyone.

Scrum 2025 Week 1 Results

Posted on by • 0 comment

Welcome to the 2025 season. The first two weeks are always an adventure and this year was no different. The New Look Patriots looked more like the 2023 Patriots and laid an egg leaving three of our contenders holding a strike. Being a compassionate commissioner, I have offered to let anyone trade their pick with Dianne to remedy the situation, but unfortunately she keeps saying no.

Everyone else survived unscathed and goes into week 2 feeling strong.

Do you need some extra motivation to pick winners this season? Here’s Mary holding her 2024 trophy. She is taunting you and daring you to try and steal a 2025 victory from her.

If that doesn’t intimidate you, how about this? Here we have 5 of the Nemmers kids with their mom Celeste looking strong in the 1950’s. Mary, Charlie, Celeste, Bill, Dick and Whoosie are lined up. Do you really think you can take a scrum trophy from this rough bunch?
